Customer Review: great features but limited life
I had to work through three of these before I got one that functioned for any period of time. First one quit second time in pool, second one band fell off. Then, after a year, moisture got inside the cover on the third just as I started to like it. I sold it after that. Three was enough.
Customer Review: Polar dropped the ball with the IR interface

Customer Review: No IR connection
The big idea for this product is to transfer exercises to a pc and then analyze the data. The IR communication didn’t work. The watch reacts on the IR transmission from the USB stick, but it doesn’t send anything back to the computer.
So I guess I have to return it and that irritates me A LOT!!

Polar F4 Women’s Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Black Thunder) Featuring a new, slim design, the F4 is Polar’s first heart rate monitor designed specifically for women. It’s packed with innovative training features to help you toward your exercise goals, including:
- Zone Pointer: A visible and audible feature on the display of your heart rate monitor showing your target heart rate zone and where your current heart rate is within that zone.
- Polar OwnCal: Shows your energy expenditure during one exercise session as well as your accumulated kilocalories during several exercise sessions. You can set daily and weekly exercise goals in terms of calorie expenditure with the OwnCal feature. Because the OwnCal tracks both the energy expenditure during one exercise session and the accumulated kilocalories during a longer time (e.g. one week), it helps in achieving both short-term and long-term goals.
- Fitness Bullets: Shows a bullet on the monitor’s display for every 10 minutes spent exercising/training in your target heart rate zone. The Time in Target Zone feature calculates the amount of total exercise time spent in your personal target zone. You can use this feature together with the Total Exercise Time to determine the effectiveness of your exercise program.
Key Features:
- Display of heart rate, exercise time, and average heart rate
- 24-hour clock with day/week indicator and stopwatch
- Large easy-to-read display with split screen
- One-year average battery life
- Water resistant to 30 meters (100 feet)

About Polar
The first EKG accurate wireless heart rate monitor was invented by Polar back in 1977 as a training tool for the Finnish National Cross Country Ski Team. The concept of “intensity training” by heart rate swept the athletic world in the eighties. By the 1990s, individuals were looking to heart rate monitors not only for performance training needs, but also for achieving everyday fitness goals. Today, the same concept of heart rate training is being used by world-class athletes as well as everyday people trying to lose weight. Polar is the leading brand among consumers, coaches, and personal trainers worldwide and the company is committed to not only producing the best products, but also being the leading educator on the benefits of heart rate based exercise.
Customer Review: Very dissapointed…..
I bought the Polar F4 heart rate monitor and was so excited about my purchase. I received the product very quickly and was happy about that. But when I opened the package and tried to turn on the watch…NOTHING. They sold me a HRM and the watch battery was already DEAD. How dissapointing. I was hoping to get using the monitor right away….but nope! So after searching for a battery that actually fit the watch, I had to drive an hour away just to get the right battery! I like the monitor but am so upset I had to go through all of this just to get using it. I spent $90 and shouldn’t of had to have to replace the battery even before my first use!!
Customer Review: not durable enough
This watch worked great for about 6 months. Then the buttons on the sides fell off. A month after that, the alarm completely stopped working. The watch is easy to use and has several different functions, but for the price I didn’t expect it to fall apart after 6 months.
