Customer Review: No Audio with HDMI
If you plan on using HDMI with this receiver, you should note that this receiver doesn’t pass the HDMI audio through to the external speakers. I have a Sony 46″ Bravia, a Tivo HD XL, and a Playstation 3 that I connected to the Denon with HDMI. I had to hook up an optical audio cable between the PS3 and the Denon, and RCA cables for the Tivo. When I found out that I can’t get 7.1 with the Tivo set up (because of the RCA analog cables), I returned the unit and bought the SONY STR-DG820. It’s about the same price and does the HMDI audio and video correctly. Also, it’s an easier to use unit.

I bought this for the bedroom. My wife wanted something to play music, and I figured I might as well install a 5.1 system. You can’t be Onkyo when it comes to “bang for your buck”. If you don’t attend to add a bluray, this is the unit to buy.

A good choice for my home entertainment center. Zone B or 2 takes a bit of time to get sound and is only analog. The zone A fiber optics digital sound is superb. It’s a lot of receiver for the buck. The price is right.

I bought the Dcp 501 on E bay Brand New for $104.00 sent to me.I love the system.Once you sit down and get the settings right it sounds great!!I highly recomend this reciever.You wont go wrong.I use the tunner on my DVD player although the tunner on the Dcp 501 worked.It didnt respond as quickly when changing the channels as the tunner on my DVD player.Other then that its a nice unit!1

Not a happy camper. I bought 2 dcp 501 for my house. 6 mts later i am down to 1. The unit about every 3 days has to have the digital activation sent to it to watch channels again. I was lookign for a replacemtn but after reading teh reviews i am looking for anotehr product.

This is a great screen for the price looks and works great…some buyers have had problems mostly due to shipping damages (mine arrived with some box damage but the contents were fine).replaced a cheapo pull down screen and happy I did.only flaw very minor is that my harmony remote would activate the screen when selecting the old s-vhs deck to watch a tape with on the tv…the IR codes must have been similar for turning on the vcr and rolling the screen down,but you could hardwire the screen and block the sensor or send the vcr to the graveyard which is what i did.

Screen quality is excellant but the trigger function needs improvement. Using one of the reviews posted on the customer comments I tried using a CAT5/6 cable to connect the screen to my projector (Mistubishi 5000U). The screen motor makes a clicking sound when I power on my projector but does not drop down.
Also, I did not get the wall unit switch as mentioned in the product description. Amazon although reduced the cost fractionally to match the current cost of the screen, they still haven’t sent me a new switch as communicated by the Amazon representative.
